BUILDING SCHOOLS

AREA OF NEED

An estimated 3.7 million children are not attending school in Afghanistan. In the poorest and rural areas of the country, which includes 79% of the total population, enrollment levels are at an extreme low. Only 45% of men and 17% of women are considered literate. Afghanistan has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world.

HOW WORLD ORPHAN FOUNDATION HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE

World Orphan Foundation has established a community-based school in the village of Rahmabad, Afghanistan where eighteen children are now able to attend school for the first time with a qualified schoolteacher. World Orphan Foundation believes that a strong education system is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and helping children become healthy and responsible citizens. Education will empower children to transform their futures, their communities, and ultimately the world.
